SICAM 2023: Focus on Naturalness and Sustainability
At the end of this coming October, the tranquil town of Pordenone in Italy will once again be transformed into the international metropolis of the furniture supplier industry when it hosts SICAM 2023. Continental will of course be there and focusing on the themes of sustainability and naturalness with three new exciting skai® decors and designs.
“Sustainability starts at the surface” – This is the banner motto of Continental’s trade show appearance this year. And this means that, once again, everything revolves around the topic of sustainability and, in particular, how sustainability relates to the “naturalness” trend. This is why the surface expert Continental will be presenting its latest skai® furniture foil products, which incorporate these very aspects, from October 17 to 20, 2023 in Pordenone, Italy, in Hall 4 at Booth B13. In addition to three extremely authentic decors – skai® Memy, skai® Casella Oak and skai® Milano – these products will also include two new uni innovations: the design laminates skai® Perfect Solo and skai® rPET PureLux 2D soft.
Inspired by nature
skai® Memy is a decor that harmoniously combines various types of rock-like materials such as concrete and ceramic. Small, light-colored stone inclusions create a microstructure that is interrupted by discreet all-over quartz veins, and is particularly convincing when “doubled” with wood.
A perfect counterpart to this is the second decor highlight of the trade fair: skai® Casella Oak – a decor that reinterprets a classic. Its rustic roots fade from view, and instead the focus is on the aspect of naturalness. With a matte finish and veneer character, this decor impressively proves that oak can not only be discretely reserved, but also extremely elegant.
The final decor to be exhibited will be our skai® Milano: with grooves and sipes, surface modulations are taken up here that already enjoyed great popularity in antiquity. Vertically arranged rhythmic-haptic lines create an exciting play of light and shadow.
Deep matte and super soft
While the “naturalness” trend is the focus for the decors, Continental is focusing on the aspects of haptics and sustainability of the designs skai® Perfect Solo and skai® rPET PureLux 2D soft .
The deep matte, solid-colored furniture foil skai® Perfect Solo, for example, not only looks good and has a noble feel to it, but also offers excellent surface performance. Thanks to the innovative staynu® technology, annoying fingerprints are now a thing of the past. Continental is also launching the design laminate skai® rPET PureLux 2D soft, with a super-matte look and soft feel. What’s special about this product is that it sets standards in sustainability with 100% recycled content in the PET polymer.
Sustainability, naturalness, design – these topics move Continental not only in product development, but also with regard to the product life cycle. Visitors to SICAM 2023 can experience live how the surface expert deals with these demands at the Continental booth B13 in Hall 4!
