A Journey of Discovery All About Sustainability – Continental at the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo 2024

Thick clouds and drizzling rain: the weather these days can be described as unpleasant at best – piquing our wanderlust. Which is precisely why many people are right now already planning their next vacation. One particularly popular choice: cruise ship voyages. And this is exactly what we at Continental are closely focusing on once again, shortly before the end of the year, as we have planned a short trip to London. There, on December 4 and 5, 2024, we are taking part in the Innovation Lounges Community at the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo (CSIE) – helping to stoke that wanderlust vacation feeling with our high-quality skai® surface materials.

There’s no question that the shorter and colder the days get, the greater the longing for sunshine, blue skies and, above all, the sea. In short: the yearning for a relaxed vacation and recreation grows almost immeasurably – making it the perfect time of year to depart on a voyage of discovery onboard a cruise ship. After all, ocean liners promise the ultimate relaxation package – especially when the finishing materials in the cabins, restaurants and other areas simply invite passengers to relax and unwind, and are enthusiastically welcomed by ship staff for their durability and ease of care. Our skai® products score points with precisely this combination, as they impress across the board in terms of style, comfort and function.

All the more reason, on December 4 and 5, 2024, to set sail on a voyage of discovery by visiting Booth 1022 at the CSIE London under the banner slogan “Sustainability starts at the surface.” What exciting new products do we have in store? skai® Evida Fiber, skai® VyP Coffee, skai® Pavinto and skai® Toronto EN, featuring innovative staynu®technology.

Three materials – ideal for the demanding cruise sector

skai® Evida Fiber – a further development of skai® Evida – impresses not only with a consciously sustainable, fine-fiber look, but above all with its sustainable inner values. Namely, 90% of the components used are made from natural and renewable raw materials. skai® VyP Coffee also scores big with a natural base product, as Continental has succeeded in incorporating used coffee grounds into the material production process. These reused coffee grounds combine with other natural and recycled components to replace more than 65% of the chemical raw materials conventionally used. The finished material is particularly comfortable thanks to its breathability, augmenting the feel-good factor even more. The third material to be exhibited, skai® Pavinto, is a durable and easy-care artificial leather in a stylish, used cowhide look that exudes vintage charm. It is now available in three new colors: Buffalo, Bottle Green and Anthracite. These three materials are complemented by skai® Toronto EN, which is now available in 13 new colors.

We will also be presenting our innovative staynu® technology at the CSIE. This is a special surface finish that makes the material extremely robust and dirt-resistant. As a result, the material not only looks like new for a long time, but it also feels good to the touch.
