SICAM 2024: Worldwide Innovation skai® PureLux 3D structure Attracts Attention

With around 20,000 m2 of exhibition space and more than 9,000 visitors, SICAM 2024 was the largest edition so far of the trade show throughout its 15-year history. For Continental, as one of a total of 700 exhibitors from 113 countries, the furniture supply industry trade show was also a resounding success. This was not only due to a booth concept that delighted the public, but of course above all thanks to innovative products that perfectly capture the spirit of the times.

International, more international, SICAM – this is probably the best way to describe this year’s edition of SICAM, because never before have visitors from so many different countries come to Pordenone, Italy, to find out about the latest furniture trends and supplier components. “The trade show was incredibly well attended,” confirms Heiko Gerstl, Head of Sales Furniture Films at Continental and responsible for the EMEA region. “We even welcomed customers from New Zealand, India and North and South America.” The mood at the show was good throughout, despite the currently weak economic environment.

The enthusiasm for new innovative products was nonetheless unabated. The Continental booth, which clearly focused on design under the tagline “Sustainability starts at the surface. Inspired by nature. Expressed by design.” attracted a lot of attention from the trade public. Many were especially captivated by the “Kitchen” exhibit which attracted visitors almost magically. This is because visitors were able to experience the products directly in the application, which featured skai® PureLux 3D Touch in the color creambeige and skai® PET PureLux 3D structure Casella Eiche nature, and they could see the advantages of the surfaces and the new materials for themselves.

Muted colors, delicate, subtle rustic woods – these are the trends at SICAM 2024

In addition to the high-quality deep matte surfaces such as skai® Perfect Solo, skai® colore classico ULTRA and skai® rPET PureLux 2D soft, the premiere of the 3D PET furniture fabrics skai® PureLux 3D structure in the versions Casella Eiche nature and Catania Eiche amber caused a stir. This is a printed PET design laminate with a matte feel and an innovative wood texture. Incidentally, the world first picks up on the “naturalness” trend, which was not only reflected at surface expert Continental’s booth, but throughout the trade show. “The trend toward muted colors with a grey component and natural woods is here to stay,” says Patrick Holz, Senior Product Manager Interior Living and responsible for the EMEA region at Continental. “However, the decors themselves are becoming restrained and the shapes and grooves more delicate.”

Accordingly, five current decors – skai® Karlstad Eiche, skai® Casella Eiche, skai® Riva, skai® Memy and skai® Port Oak – were presented, all of which pick up on the current naturalness trend and were well received by the trade show audience.

Exciting conversations, innovative products and newfound inspiration – for Continental, the four days of the trade show were a complete success. Three good reasons why the surface expert will once again be represented at SICAM next year.
